Short Bio: Eng. Sheeraz Majeed Ameen is an academic, researcher, and engineer specializing in Water and Environmental Engineering, with nearly two decades of experience across higher education, engineering practice, academic leadership, and applied research. She is currently a PhD candidate at Kurdistan University Hawler (UKH), where her research focuses on hybrid hydrodynamic modelling integrated with transfer learning and deep learning to improve flood forcasting and support the design and assessment of hydraulic and environmental infrastructure in Semi-Arid and data-scarce regions.
She holds an MSc in Hydraulics from Istanbul University, Turkey, and a BSc in Irrigation and Civil Engineering from the University of Sulaimani. Her expertise spans hydrodynamic systems, hydraulic structures, water and environmental engineering, and AI-driven engineering applications, with professional experience in both academia and field projects related to water treatment and infrastructure development.
She is currently an Assistant Lecturer at Erbil Polytechnic University Koya Technical Institute, where she teaches Fluid Mechanics, Petroleum Wastewater, HSE ,Refinery Engineering and Engineering Drawing,. She previously served as Head of the Petroleum Technology Department (2021 to 2024). Her professional background also includes roles as a site and supervisor engineer in water treatment and infrastructure projects.
Eng. Sheeraz M. Ameen is an active member of the Kurdistan Engineers Union and the ACI Kurdistan Chapter. Her areas of interest include hydraulic infrastructure, sustainable water systems, dam engineering, and environmental Engineering.
