Area of interest: structural engineering and construction materials, with a specific focus on the effects of fire on concrete and steel reinforcement. I aim to identify the key mechanisms that lead to the deterioration of mechanical properties, particularly the loss of strength in concrete and rebar under elevated temperatures.

Short Bio: Barzan is a lecturer and research engineer in the Department of Civil Engineering at Salahaddin University-Erbil.

He earned his BS in Civil Engineering from Salahaddin University in 2007 and his MS from INSA de Lyon in 2012. He is a member of the Kurdistan Engineering Union in Erbil. His research focuses on sustainability and concrete structures, and he has published several papers in international journals.
