Area of interest: behavior and design of earthquake- and wind-resistant concrete structures; seismic evaluation, retrofit, and repair of existing buildings; and large-scale laboratory testing.

Short Bio: He is a Postdoctoral Researcher at University of California, Los Angeles and a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Sulaimani, Kurdistan, Iraq. He received his BS from the University of Sulaimani; his MS from California State University, Fullerton, CA; and his PhD from University of California, Los Angeles. He is a voting member of a number of ACI committees and sub-committees, including:

  • ACI Committee 374, Performance-Based Seismic Design;
  • ACI Subcommittees 318-H, Seismic Provisions (Structural Concrete Building Code);
  • ACI Subcommittees 318-W, Wind Provisions (Structural Concrete Building Code); and
  • ACI Committee 369-F, Retrofit (Seismic Repair and Rehabilitation).

He has extensive experience related to design and evaluation of tall buildings in regions of low to high seismicity. 

About Aci-Kurdistan Chapter

The ACI chapter of Kurdistan is a recently establisehd branch of ACI, which cover the geographic region of the southern kurdistan which so called (Iraqi Kurdistan region). The main goal of the chapter is to merge our knowledge about the concrete with the most recent standards and specifications. Also, the Kurdistan chapter makes a strong tie between the universities across the Kurdistan region.
