Short Bio: Dr. Jawdat Tashan served as a Professor of Structural Engineering at Metro College of Technology,

Toronto, Canada, where he also held the esteemed position of Dean of Academic Affairs.

Dr. Tashan is professorship was awarded in Canada, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the field. He also made significant contributions to the academic community during his tenure at the University of Monash, Australia. Currently, he serves as the Chair of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Kurdistan Hewler. Dr. Tashan earned his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from

Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. His research focuses on innovative and sustainable solutions in structural engineering, including green concrete, sustainable construction materials, structural strength evaluation, nanotechnology applications in construction, and retrofitting using advanced composite materials. His research activities involve collaboration with international teams across Canada,

the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and France, including recent collaboration with University of Bordeaux. He has published extensively in leading international journals and conference proceedings. In addition to his academic career, Dr. Tashan brings substantial industry experience in engineering construction, design, and consultancy. He has managed and contributed to more than twenty major technical projects,

including the successful execution of a US$1 billion project, delivered on time, within budget, and to the

satisfaction of all stakeholders. Dr. Tashan is actively engaged with several leading international professional organizations.

He is a Voting Member of the American Concrete Institute Committee 440-0F (USA), a Fellow of Advance HE (UK),

a Licensed Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (Canada), an Associate Member of American Society of Civil Engineers (USA), and a Member of the Structural College of Engineers Australia.
