Job Location: Assistant Professor & Earthquake Engineering Specialist

Email: abdulhameed.yaseen@uod.ac

Area of interest: structural engineering and construction materials, with a specific focus on the effects of fire on concrete and steel reinforcement. I aim to identify the key mechanisms that lead to the deterioration of mechanical properties, particularly the loss of strength in concrete and rebar under elevated temperatures.

Short Bio: Dr. Abdulhameed Abdullah Yaseen is a distinguished academic and structural engineer with over 25 years of expertise in seismic assessment, structural analysis, and higher education. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Duhok, where he specializes in the durability of concrete and advanced structural dynamics.

Throughout his career, Dr. Yaseen has been at the forefront of regional safety standards, serving as a key member of the Iraqi Seismic Code Updating Committee. His research contributions are extensive, notably leading a $40,000 grant-funded project to assess the seismic vulnerability of approximately 40,000 buildings in Duhok using Rapid Visual Screening and GIS mapping.

Beyond his research, Dr. Yaseen is deeply involved in professional leadership:
