Sulaimani, May 29, 2024 – The American Concrete Institute (ACI) Kurdistan Chapter co-organized an event today with the ACI University of Sulaimani (UoS) Student Chapter, bringing together participants from several student chapters, including ACI TIU, SUE, UoD, and UoZ.
The event, sponsored by the Kurdistan Engineers Union and the Kurdistan Engineer Syndicate, would not have been possible without their generous support. Supervision of the event was expertly handled by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Serwan Khurshid, and his dedicated team.
The day's proceedings began with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Serwan Khurshid, followed by remarks from Dr. Omar Qarani, President of the ACI Kurdistan Chapter, and Eng. Salah Zandi, Deputy President of the Kurdistan Engineers Syndicate. A musical performance by talented students from UoS’s Civil Engineering Department added a cultural touch to the event.
One of the highlights was the presentation of plaques of appreciation to the winners of last year’s graduation project competition. Each student chapter also had the opportunity to present their activities to the audience, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and shared learning.
After a lunch break, the event continued with a competition among the participating student chapters. The ACI TIU Student Chapter emerged as the first-place winner, followed by SUE ACI in second place, and UoD ACI in third place. Awards and certificates of participation were distributed to the winners.
This event has once again proven to be an excellent platform for civil engineering students across the Kurdistan region to network, collaborate, and engage in a practical learning environment. It also strengthens the relationships between students, professors, advisors, and supervisors, enhancing their knowledge and skills in concrete technology and engineering.
The ACI Kurdistan Chapter remains committed to supporting and organizing such events to promote practical, experience-based learning and professional development for civil engineering students.
